Since the release date for Outlander season 7 part 2 was revealed as part of World Outlander Day on 1st June, fans have been waiting ever so patiently for new episodes.

Well, the wait is almost over as the second half of season 7 lands on MGM+ in the UK this Saturday 23rd November.

The recently released trailer teased some of what's to come and also gave us a first look at Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitríona Balfe) in action.

When viewers last saw the pair in season 7 part 1, they had just arrived in their beloved homeland: Scotland.

But as seen in the new trailer, it's not quite the homecoming they're expecting, as the Revolutionary War forces them to choose between standing by loved ones and fighting for their new home.

That's not the only problem our beloved cast will face in these new episodes, though, as co-showrunner Matthew B. Roberts recently told TVLine that Arch Bug (Hugh Ross) will be a looming threat for the Frasers this season.

We saw him in episode 8 where he crossed paths with Rachel (Izzy Meikle-Small) and seemed to issue a veiled threat about Ian (John Bell).

Unfortunately, Outlander will wrap up with its eighth and final season, which has now officially finished filming. Heughan paid an emotional tribute to the show, saying there's "plenty more to look forward to" and that we do as we look ahead to season 7 part 2.

While we may have a brand new Outlander prequel series to get excited about soon, in the meantime here's everything you need to know about Outlander season 7 part 2.

Outlander season 7 part 2 (also known as season 7b) will be premiering in the UK on MGM+, which can be accessed via Prime Video channels, on Saturday 23rd November.

New episodes will be available to stream every Saturday. In the US, the second half of season 7 will be available to watch on Friday 22nd November at midnight ET via the Starz app and via linear, will air on the same day at 8pm ET/PT.

Delayed due to last year's writers' and actors' strikes in the US, part 2 forms the inflated seventh season, which comprises a whopping total of 16 episodes, with the mid-season finale having aired all the way back in August 2023.

If you're looking to catch up on previously instalments or simply just want to have a rewatch before season 7 part 2 lands, you'll be happy to know that UK viewers can now do so on MGM+.

How to watch Outlander season 7 on Prime Video

Outlander season 7 is available to stream on MGM+, which is a 'channel' on Amazon Prime Video that costs an extra £4.49 per month on top of your Amazon Prime subscription (£7.99 per month).

Previous subscribers to Lionsgate+ who joined via Prime Video Channels don't need to worry, as they'll now get access to the MGM service on the platform automatically. It will officially be rebranded as MGM+ in May.

There were plenty of new characters and familiar faces in Outlander season 7 part 1, and most of the main cast will reprise their roles for the second half of the bumper season.

Outlander season 7 saw the return of the majority of main Outlander cast members, but had some surprise deaths along the way.

Season 7 saw the new additions of Charles Vandervaart as Jamie's bastard son William Ransom, as well as Quaker brother and sister duo Izzy Meikle-Small as Rachel Hunter and Joey Phillips as Denzell Hunter.

Season 7 part 2 will see the return of some familiar faces, with showrunner Matthew B Roberts previously telling TVLine: "One of the many joys of our epic story is the element of time travel, which allows us to revisit some of our favorite characters in different times and places, and we're thrilled to welcome back so many familiar faces for season seven."

One of the familiar characters who is set to make a return is Jamie's sister Jenny Murray, who has been recast. The role was previously played by Laura Donnelly, but due to scheduling conflicts, Kristin Atherton will be taking over the role. It'll certainly be a family affair as Andrew Whipp is also set to reprise his role as Jamie's father, Brian Fraser but seeing as the character died in season 1, we'd assume he'll be someone that our cast comes across either in time travel or a flashback.

The confirmed cast list for season 7 part 2 is as follows:

  • Caitríona Balfe as Claire Randall Fraser
  • Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser
  • Richard Rankin as Roger Wakefield MacKenzie
  • Sophie Skelton as Brianna Randall Fraser MacKenzie
  • John Bell as Young Ian Murray
  • David Berry as Lord John Grey
  • Chris Fulton as Rob Cameron
  • Charles Vandervaart as William Ransom
  • Diarmaid Murtagh as Buck MacKenzie
  • Izzy Meikle-Small as Rachel Hunter
  • Joey Phillips as Dr Denzell Hunter
  • Kristin Atherton as Jenny Murray
  • Andrew Whipp as Brian Fraser
  • Graham McTavish as Dougal MacKenzie
  • Lotte Verbeek as Geillis Duncan
  • Andrew Whipp as Brian Fraser
  • Steven Cree as Ian Murray
  • Layla Burns as Joan MacKimmie
  • Nell Hudson as Laoghaire Fraser
  • Gloria Obianyo as Mercy Woodcock
  • Hugh Ross as Arch Bug

It's safe to say that season 7 part 1 ended on quite the cliffhanger, with Roger (Richard Rankin) and Buck (Diarmaid Murtagh) going through the stones to find Jemmy, and Claire (Caitríona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) finally returning to Scotland.

Season 7 also focused on the shocking story of Claire and Jamie's daughter Brianna (Sophie Skelton), who travelled with her husband Roger and their children to 1980s Scotland in search of a safer and better life – or so they thought. Bri and Roger's son Jemmy was kidnapped by supposed friend Rob Cameron (Chris Fulton) and so, Roger and Buck's search for Jemmy will certainly form a major part of season 7 part 2.

But as executive producer Maril Davis exclusively revealed to RadioTimes.com, all stories in Outlander have a way of leading back to Jamie and Claire.

She explained, when speaking about Roger and Bri's storyline: "It connects those stories in a way that I think is important as the story goes forward – everything always comes back to Jamie and Claire. I always think of them as the centre of the wheel and everything kind of spokes off of them."

Balfe also previously revealed exclusively to RadioTimes.com that there will be a lot of peril in store for season 7, so we may want to prepare ourselves for the second half of season 7.

Balfe revealed: "It was such an epic season. And there's just so much that happens this year. But yeah - well, hopefully - I think the fans will be happy.

"There’s a lot of peril this season and a lot of things happen," before also stating, "There’s a lot of loss and things are unsettled. It’s just very epic, this season."

The official synopsis for season 7 part 2 reads: "The perils of the Revolutionary War force them to choose between standing by those they love and fighting for the land they have made their new home.

"Meanwhile, Roger and Brianna face new enemies across time and must battle the forces that threaten to pull their family apart. As loyalties change and painful secrets come to light, Jamie and Claire's marriage is tested like never before.

"With their love binding them over oceans and centuries, can the MacKenzies and Frasers find their way back to each other?"

Is Outlander ending with season 8?

Sadly, it is. It was confirmed on Thursday 19th January 2023 that Outlander had been commissioned for an eighth and final season, which will be made up of 10 episodes.

Kathryn Busby, president of original programming for Starz, said: "For nearly a decade Outlander has won the hearts of audiences worldwide and we’re pleased to bring Claire and Jamie’s epic love story to a proper conclusion.

"But before we close this chapter there is plenty of their passionate story to tell over the course of 26 new episodes and even more to explore of this dynamic world and its origin story."

Despite this sad news, fans shouldn't get too upset, as we won't be leaving the Outlander universe entirely. Alongside the renewal announcement, it was officially confirmed that a 10-episode prequel series has been ordered, entitled Outlander: Blood of My Blood.

This new prequel will centre on the lives and relationship of Jamie Fraser’s parents, Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie, with Matthew B Roberts – showrunner and executive producer on both shows – saying: "Jamie and Claire’s TV story may be coming to an end with season 8, but Diana is continuing on with their literary journey in her wonderful book series and is working diligently on book 10.

"With Jamie and Claire, and now Brian and Ellen, there is still so much more to come in the Outlander universe, and we cannot wait to continue sharing these stories with our dedicated fans."

Is there a trailer for Outlander season 7 part 2?

There is! There's finally a sneak peek at the second half of Outlander season 7, and we hear Jamie aptly tie it together saying that "a storm is coming".

While fleeting, we get glimpses of a teary Bri, a concerned Claire and a scared Roger, who finds Jemmy's scarf in the woods.

Outlander season 7 part 2 will be available to stream on Starz in the US and on MGM+ in the UK on Saturday 23rd November. You can buy Diana Gabaldon's books on Amazon.
